Author: Grace Willcocks
Can you tell us a bit about your design background?
My interest in design started back in my childhood, observing my dad who is an architect.
Visiting sites and trying to make drawings at his office influenced me so much!
I graduated from Bilkent University, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design department with a bachelor's degree(BA Hons) and have been working in the interior design field since.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in various high-end residential projects from concept to completion alongside high-end hospitality projects with Four Seasons Hotels, Mandarin Oriental, St Regis, Kempinski, Astoria, Marriott, and Hilton groups.
How would you describe your ID style?
Mixing traditional and modern in functional spaces is my favourite.
I enjoy creating spaces consisting of layers, and warm, elegant touches with clever bespoke details according to the project considering the potential of the space itself.
As my design approach, I strive to create projects that exceed client expectations by providing them with tailored solutions and ultimately generating a sense of belonging.
What is the best advice you've been given?
The best advice regarding interior design was from one of my university professor's: ‘always hide the light source :) ‘
In general, I am chasing: ‘ The more simple pleasures you discover in your life, the happier you’ll get.’
